Gareth Williams Canada Junior National Ski Team

My name is Gareth Williams. I am 19 years old and have cross-country ski raced my whole life. Born in Vancouver, BC, and raised in the city of Kelowna, where I learned to ski at the Telemark Nordic Club. I have been skiing since the age of 3, and have been racing since the age of 5. Club races were the start, slowly progressing to BC Cups, reaching the National level and now with international experience. I graduated from Kelowna Secondary School in 2015, and am now a part time student at Okanagan College, and a full time ski racer for the Telemark Racers. My coach Adam Elliot grew up in Kelowna as well, as he raced for Telemark as a Junior athlete and is now the head coach. My love for skiing and racing is why I continue to progress in the sport, it is my number one passion.

Goals:

After looking back at a great season, I have set new goals. I work hard each and every day in hope of making a dream a reality. My main focus for next season is to qualify for the 2018 U23 World Championships in Switzerland, and to reach the podium in the Canadian Ski Nationals. After racing my first World Cup races in Quebec City last season, I feel excited and motivated as I move forward in my skiing career.

Quebec City World Cup Finals.
